How do we define rich?

“Everything can be taken from man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms, to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” — Viktor Frankl

Friends,

As we bid farewell to 2023, I extend my gratitude for joining me on this journey. Over the past few years, I've felt a calling to support those navigating challenging times. In 2023, I made a commitment to share my experiences openly, aiming to offer encouragement to fellow fathers on their unique paths and to inspire spiritual growth in others. It's been a joy, and I look forward to continuing this journey as we step into 2024.

Let's ponder a thought together—how do we define true richness or wealth? Often, kids may equate it with lavish vacations, grand homes, and other materialistic markers. I confess; I once held this view as a child. Interestingly, many who experienced such wealth during their youth find themselves lacking in other, more profound ways as adults.

Growing up in privileged settings, these individuals often yearned for attention and quality time with their parents. Now, in my adult life, I recognize that genuine wealth extends beyond monetary measures. While financial stability is undoubtedly essential, accumulating wealth should never come at the expense of neglecting quality time with our children. How much time do we genuinely spend with them? Do they feel safe and secure within the walls of our homes?

Creating an environment where our children feel like the wealthiest individuals doesn't necessitate a hefty bank account. It's about the time, attention, and love we invest in their lives.

Whether you're a father or aspiring to be one, let this notion resonate deeply. If you're already dedicating quality time to your children, keep at it! The true treasures of life often come in the form of shared moments and unspoken bonds.

Wishing you a reflective and joyful transition into the new year,

Bryant
