From Florida Fun to Faithful Reflections: A Summer Update
Dad Life, Disney Magic, and Pickleball Tips
Hi fam,
How’s it going? Things have been wild on this end with travel to Florida with the family. My daughter and I spent a couple of weeks in Sarasota with my dad. My brother and his family also came for a visit, and we did a 3-day Disney cruise, which was a ton of fun. My daughter was in heaven with all the Disney characters and shows. Being able to share those moments and create memories was the highlight of the second quarter, no doubt.
Calling all dads! A fun exercise I like to do is write an email highlighting everything from Q2 (April – June). I started this when Grace was an infant and email her every few months, sharing the memories we've made. It’s a great way to capture those special moments and look back on them as she grows. I encourage you to try it—it’s a simple way to document and cherish the little (and big) things that happen throughout the year.
Faith, Fatherhood, and Pickleball
Faith has always been the anchor that keeps me grounded, especially during life's tumultuous times. Recently, I’ve been reflecting on the importance of staying spiritually connected and how it impacts my role as a father. It's a constant journey, and I’m grateful for the strength and guidance it provides.
Fatherhood is an adventure of its own. Watching Grace grow and experience new things is a blessing I don’t take for granted. This summer has been filled with laughter, learning, and a few challenges here and there, but that's all part of the journey. One thing that’s really stood out to me is the importance of being present. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, but those little moments with our kids are priceless.
Pickleball Tip of the Week: 3 Things I Wish I Knew Earlier
When in doubt, go up the middle.
Attack balls out of the air at the kitchen.
When at the kitchen and you float a ball, back up and keep your paddle down to defend.
These tips have really helped elevate my game, and I hope they can do the same for you. Remember, pickleball is not just about winning; it’s about having fun and staying active. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, there's always something new to learn and enjoy.
In other news, it was an honor to be a guest on the Life Shift podcast, which will be released on July 23. It was a fun conversation about the life shift I experienced five years ago when I lost my mom and became a single dad. If there’s one thing that got me through it, it was faith. I’m excited for the episode to release soon and share my story with all of you. It’s a reminder that even in the toughest times, there’s always a way forward.
Stay blessed and keep smashing it on and off the court!
Talk soon,
