Flow State When Done is Better Than Perfect

Why Done Beats Perfect in Parenting Sports and Life

Hey friends,

Big welcome to all the new subscribers πŸ‘‹ glad you are here. This little space is where we talk racquet sports, fatherhood, faith, and what it means to chase inner peace and outer excellence.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§ Personal Hook

It is Sunday morning here. Just got out of church, and in about an hour we will be headed to our first soccer practice of the season. Grace is fired up and I am too. Later this afternoon, I am also excited to catch the US Open men’s final. A full day ahead.

This weekend with Grace has been a gift. We hit the Austin Public Library after school, grabbed her favorite tacos, and the zoo is still on our list. She keeps me moving, and I would not have it any other way.

But if I am honest, last week was not my sharpest when it came to work and content. Some of it felt rushed. I did not feel 100% on my game.

The reminder I needed? Sometimes done is the win. Even when I am not at my best, showing up matters. Because presence is always better than perfection.

🌊 Lesson Flow State

That got me thinking about flow state one of the core pillars of this brand.

On the court, flow looked like showing up anyway. Playing the best I could in that moment. Flow does not mean perfect. Flow means present.

Off the court, it looked like this:

  • Time with Grace

  • Quiet prayer

  • Setting intentions for how I want to show up at home, with friends, and with those I get to serve

That is flow. Alignment. When body, mind, and spirit are moving in the same direction.

πŸ“ Application

Here is something to try this week:

πŸ‘‰ Check out this reel from Instagram. It is a simple, but powerful. Be intentional with where you hit on court.

Pair it with this mindset: done is better than perfect. Show up, even when you do not feel like it. That is how flow grows.

And if you want to go deeper, I just dropped a new episode on YouTube:

πŸ™Œ Encouragement

If you are in a stretch that feels heavy, do not overcomplicate it. Show up. Protect your peace. Do what you can today.

Because that is how we build outer excellence one imperfect intentional rep at a time.

P.S. Please share this with family or friends who you feel this could serve on the court and off the court.
