Level Up Your Game

Pickleball | Faith | Fatherhood

Hey Friends,

It’s been another jam-packed week over here—spent the first part of it in Columbus, OH, for a hospital pharmacy work conference. But, as always, I made sure to sneak in some pickleball with my brother. Priorities, right? 🎾 Upon my return to Austin, I dove headfirst into a local pickleball league called the Founders League. Amazing people, great vibes, and, of course, intense matches. If you’re looking for an awesome group of players who have interesting backstories, that’s the place to be. New faces, new friendships—definitely thankful for that.

Pickleball Tip of the Week
Alright, y'all, let’s stop the madness at the kitchen. Here’s a simple move to level up your game: after you hit a good dink, don’t just stand there admiring it! Lean in and shrink the kitchen space. This little move puts pressure on your opponent to hit a perfect dink—which, let’s be honest, they usually won’t. This often leads to a pop-up… and that’s your moment to pounce. Want to see how it’s done? Check out the video below!

Pro Pickleball Update
The pro pickleball scene has been on fire lately! Last week, we witnessed some serious action on the PPA Tour with Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters continuing to flex their dominance. Over in the MLP world, the buzz is building as teams prep for the year-end championships in Dallas this November. Things are heating up + it should be an exciting end of year.

Quick Thoughts from X 🧵
Here’s a thread I shared earlier this week that struck a chord with a lot of folks. Thought it might do the same for you:

🧵 Why You’re Failing at Pickleball, Fatherhood, AND Faith (And How to Fix All 3—Right Now)
1 | Losing at pickleball? It’s not just about the court—it’s about how you show up in life. Family, faith, fitness—it’s all connected. You wanna win on the court? Look deeper, my friend. 🔍
2 | The “I’m too busy” excuse? Big. Fat. Lie. If you’ve got time to scroll TikTok, you’ve got time for a 10-minute drill with your kid. Whether it’s pickleball or prayer, it’s all about making the time.
3 | Your kids are ALWAYS watching. Think they don’t notice when you skip out on game night? Trust me, they do. How you commit to the court is how they’ll learn to commit to life. Be someone they want to imitate. 💡

If you want more, check out the full thread. But seriously, what’s one area where you know you could step it up—on the court or at home? Hit me up. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Fatherhood Update
This weekend’s been a whirlwind with my little girl. We’ve been all about the acai bowls lately—so refreshing.  We’ve also spent hours playing outside and, of course, soccer. She had another game and—wait for it—she scored again! And yes, it was for the other team… again. 😂 But hey, progress is progress, and I’m so proud of her effort. Moments like these are what it’s all about.

Let’s Hear from You
What were your highs and lows this week? Whether it's pickleball, parenting, or anything in between, I want to hear from you. Drop me a note and let me know how I can help, whether it’s with pickleball advice, fatherhood wisdom, or just being a listening ear. And don’t forget to share this newsletter with your friends or family—anyone who could use a little extra boost.

Encouraging Thought for the Week
We’re all a work in progress, right? Whether you’re trying to get your dink game right or figure out this whole fatherhood thing, the key is consistency. Show up every day. One small step forward every day beats waiting for the “perfect moment” that never comes. You’ve got everything you need right now to become the best version of yourself.

Until next week, friends—let’s keep showing up for our game, our kids, and our faith. Let’s GO! 🙏👊
