Faith + Fatherhood + Pickleball Newsletter

Helping all amateurs on the road to 5.0

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re all doing great. It’s been a busy weekend for me — I was in Ohio with family for my Hall of Fame induction (more on that later) and just got back to Austin this evening. Lots to catch up on, but you know I had to get this newsletter out first! We’ve got some great stuff today, with a heavy focus on pickleball, plus a bit of faith and fatherhood sprinkled in, as always. Let’s jump right in!

🧵 How to Achieve Unbreakable Balance in Your Life — and Why Most People Get it Wrong

So, earlier this week, I tweeted something that really hit home, and I want to break it down here. Most people think balance is about time management. WRONG. 🧠

Balance actually starts with mastering these four pillars:

  1. Physical health

  2. Mental health

  3. Emotional health

  4. Spiritual health

Miss one, and burnout is around the corner. So, how do we get it right? Here’s how:

1 | Physical health is your foundation.
If your body isn’t strong, everything else starts to crumble. The gym isn’t optional; it’s non-negotiable. But you don’t need to live in there. Consistency over intensity! Whether it’s lifting, pickleball, or even a brisk walk — just get moving.

2 | Mental strength is more than “positivity.”
Your mind is a battlefield, and you’re either in control, or it’s controlling you. Most people live reactive lives, but not you. Be proactive! What are you feeding your brain daily? What are you focusing on?

3 | Emotional resilience > chasing happiness.
Chasing happiness can be exhausting. Life will throw punches — the real question is, will you bend or break? It’s all about managing emotions, not avoiding them. How do you respond when life gets tough?

4 | Spiritual health isn’t “woo-woo” — it’s your compass.
Without purpose, life can feel chaotic. Faith, mindfulness, prayer, meditation — whatever it is, you need something to guide you. Spiritual health is key to making sure all the other pillars stay balanced.

The secret? All four need to work together. You can’t just focus on one and let the others slide. If you're physically strong but mentally or emotionally struggling, you’ll feel out of balance. Align all four, and that’s where the magic happens.

So, how are you aligning these four pillars in your life?

Proud, But Not Satisfied: Hall of Fame Weekend Recap

This past weekend was special. I was back in Ohio, surrounded by family, for my high school Hall of Fame induction alongside my brother. Before the ceremony, my dad, brother and I took a moment to visit my mom, where she’s laid to rest. It was peaceful, just praying and reflecting — it gave me the calm and clarity I needed with the busy schedule as of late.

The ceremony was incredible, and I’m proud to have received the honor. But, I’m not satisfied. There’s still more I want to accomplish. Being recognized is great, but it’s a reminder that there’s always more to give and more to do.

After everything, it reminded me of my mantra, “How do I want to be remembered?” And that’s a question I’d encourage you to ask yourself too. What impact do you want to leave behind?

Pickleball Tip of the Week: Singles Tactics!

Alright, let’s switch gears and talk pickleball! If you’re working on your singles game, here are a few tactics that’ll help:

  • Aggressive serve & drive: Start the point with an aggressive serve with depth + power. Put your opponent on the defense and set yourself up for an offensive drive.

  • Aggressive serve, drop, and rush the kitchen: Take control early and dominate the net.

  • Deep return, rush the kitchen, hit the open court: Keep your opponent pinned back, get to the kitchen and then attack the open spaces.

Try these out and let me know how it goes!
