Soft Game đ, Strong Faith âď¸, Real Growth đ: Inside This Weekâs Issue
Pickleball | Faith | Fatherhood
Welcome back, team! đ And a big welcome to our new subscribers! Before we dive in, Iâd love to hear from you. Whatâs the one thing youâre struggling with in your pickleball game right now? Drop me a note and letâs make sure we cover it here.
Pickleball Tip of the Week: Boost Your DUPR in 3 Steps đŻ
This week, letâs keep it tight and focused with three easy tweaks that can give your DUPR a bump.
đ Move Less at the Kitchen Line: Footwork can make or break your game. Try keeping one foot planted and focus on a short, compact swing.
đ Work the Transition Zone with Resets: Grab a partner and get those reps in. The better your soft game, the higher your level. Itâs not just a drillâitâs the way to win.
đ Aim for Consistent Depth: Your serves and returns should aim to land about 4 feet from the baseline. Precision here is key. Control the depth, control the game.
đ¨ Hot Tweet This Week đ¨
Your return of serve might be costing you the game! Too many players fall into the same traps. Hereâs how to flip the script and make every return count:
1ď¸âŁ Depth Matters Most: Every return should be deep. If itâs landing short, youâre giving your opponent an advantage. Depth gives you control.
2ď¸âŁ Ditch the Power, Focus on Control: Power is fun, but a deep, controlled return pins your opponent back.
3ď¸âŁ Kill the Floaters: High returns? Theyâre giving your opponent the green light to smash. Keep it low, keep it deadly.
4ď¸âŁ Angles Are Your Secret Weapon: Even if youâre not a pro, an angled return will keep your opponent scrambling.
5ď¸âŁ Force Movement: Straight returns are rookie moves. Make them run; every extra step they take is a win for you.
Mindset Check: Your return isnât just âgetting it backââitâs setting up the point. Next time youâre on the court, think offense, not survival.
Worlds Championships Alert đ¨đ
Next week is the World Championships in Dallas for the PPA Tour. If you want to see top-level pickleball, tune in! Watch how these pros control depth and dominate with their smart shot selection. Also, shout-out to those who DMâd me this week with return questions. My advice? Keep it simple: short backswing, weight moving forward, and a quick sprint to the kitchen line!
Fatherhood Diaries đ§¸â˝ď¸
We wrapped up my daughterâs soccer season this morning! She had a blast, made friends, and asked to play again next season. Sheâs made great progressâno more kicking the ball in the wrong goal! Should I jump in and coach next season? Let me know what you think!
Faith & Reflections đą
Iâve been thinking a lot this week about faith and growth. Ever felt like God is âpruningâ you? Thatâs preparation for whatâs next, my friend. Sometimes, embracing the discomfort is part of the path to something better. Letâs take it one step further: donât dodge the situations that stretch youâtheyâre building your faith and resilience.
Thought of the Week: How can you show up as your truest selfâin your conversations, in the content you create, in your daily life? Authenticity is magnetic; people are drawn to whatâs real.
Final Serve đ
Thatâs a wrap! Donât forget: show up as you are, embrace the uncomfortable moments, and keep leveling upâon and off the court. Got a topic you want covered in next weekâs issue? Hit reply and let me know. And, hey, if youâre on the fence about your serve, remember: depth over power. Control over chaos.
Catch you next week,
